Craft

This is used as a term to represent skills&sbquo abilities&sbquo or techniques performed by hand. Such skills and abilities have progressed with time&sbquo and as a result the meaning of craft has come to indicate diversity since it has been expanded to include things that are expressed by such skills. First&sbquo the meaning of handcraft and craft includes everything from hand skills to art craft due to the advancement and specialization of technology. This meaning may be appropriated to include shrewd tricks and hence extended to conspiracy and cunningness. The term design also similarly has a meaning that is associated with trickiness and conspiracy. Through inclusion in its meaning "a skilled group capable of contrivance&sbquo" its meaning developed to include unions and vocational groups. When it indicated a thing itself that expressed skills&sbquo it was extended to mean ships and boats in the 17th century as things that were born of historical circumstances. Craft or craft design as terms defined in the realm of design are used as a design result achieved by the designer's own skills and as a modernized indicative terms for industrial art. However&sbquo the era is past when the design result is considered the subject of a design expression closely associated with the designer's own skills. Rather&sbquo when the context of historical craftwork skills and hand work is evident in the processing method or expressive technique for the material&sbquo the terms craft design is used more often. On the other hand&sbquo even if they are design results achieved&sbquo for example&sbquo through the use of computers&sbquo for those that have industrial art design elements or the feel of handwork in their design styles&sbquo the expression craft is used intentionally to add a connotation associated with contrivance. Since the original meaning of this word emphasizes a contrived nature in the skills of the human hand&sbquo a terminological meaningfulness that implies an arbitrary meaningfulness should not be allowed to remain. I feel re-verification of the meaning of this word is necessary&sbquo as a term that raises the question of what craft-quality in design strictly means.
