Communication(remote communication via tools or media)

The act of exchanging intentions remotely by means of certain media for the survival of humanity and the maintenance of society is called tsushin (communication) in japanese. Each era availed itself of the available technology to devise methods and means for achieving swifter communication. The format of communication has mainly been determined and developed to suit our visual and auditory senses. Before characters were invented&sbquo pictorial expressions and different ways of tying knots on a rope were used as visual communication methods. Since then&sbquo the method of communication evolved as messages were relayed to more remote distances with the use of fire and smoke as in beacons and smoke signals. The original media of auditory communication are the sounds of drums&sbquo bells and conch shells. Communication changed drastically with the invention of Gutenberg's printing press&sbquo a device that became the starting point for the development of mass communication. The most revolutionary changes in communication technology thereafter are the invention of the Morse code in 1837 and the telephone by Bell in 1876. The format of communication further evolved with the invention of broadcasting media such as radio and television&sbquo whose content and influential power grew to the extent it could even change social and political systems. The communication environment of the world then sees a major transformation through the establishment of satellite networks&sbquo the advent of the personal computer&sbquo and the information superhighway project initiated by the Clinton Administration in 1993. It is no exaggeration to say that the influence of the Internet in partikI&sbquo as the product of the information revolution&sbquo is unfathomable&sbquo and has forced the transformation of everything from the global communication system to ethics. This has resulted in the emergence of new worldwide social issues&sbquo such as information disparity and the need to protect privacy from information leaks. Communication design and information design in the field of communication&sbquo and creation&sbquo editing and the management of information in the area of design information have become new subjects of design.
