Network

This term originally came from the American broadcasting industry&sbquo based on the fact radio broadcast relay setup and TV's microwave circuit setups looked like nets. ln particular&sbquo it became the keyword behind the concept of forming a broadcasting network with a centralized operation and management system that unified nationwide TV circuits. In japan&sbquo the word network came to mean a TV broadcasting network but was later linked to the use of computers and transformed into a term that can now even symbolize the interrelationships of all operations necessary for conducting a given plan. The essential meaning of network may be defined more clearly by associating it with the word integration as used by W.S. Randegger&sbquo and the following four classifications in meaning can be derived. First&sbquo there is cultural integration. This can be defined as a type of social movement or democracy formed through "networking." Next are scale-related integration and communication network-related integration. Communication network specificaliy indicates radio&sbquo TV and interaction through computers. The original meaning of network can be sought here. Finaliy&sbquo there is functional integration. That is&sbquo it is possible to define the constituent elements of a network by considering the functionality of the network itself as a collection of various technological outcomes. This can be taken to be a modei for the network in the social realm as weil. In effect&sbquo network is a term that evaluates the overall completeness ofthe communication network infrastructure&sbquo and&sbquo as in the phrase "network of energy&sbquo" through its historical expansion in meaning it can refer to a web in addition to elements related to points&sbquo iines and planes. In light of all this&sbquo soiving problems by communication through a network&sbquo that is&sbquo the media integration of hardware and software through a network&sbquo is now considered ta be one of design's methods.
