Multimedia

Multimedia is originally a computer term .It means integrated display of various expressive formats such as text&sbquo images&sbquo photographs&sbquo video&sbquo movies and music&sbquo and integration of all functionality that excels in search and permutation capabilities so that the display can be recognized and perceived more intuitively and sensibly. Expression of images and sound on the computer had been demanded since the 60s and various new media such as the satellite broadcast&sbquo PC communication&sbquo videotex&sbquo CATV&sbquo ISDN&sbquo CD-ROM&sbquo and DVD have appeared since the mid 80s. There have been called the new media. Through elimination and consolidation&sbquo however&sbquo many of these names are almost never used today. As the advancement of the computer has shifted away from mere media integration&sbquo and further new concepts and applications and being added&sbquo we can say that multimedia as a trendy term has come to an end. The term multimedia is now used generally as a concept that integrates the totality of media including publication&sbquo broadcasting and electric communication such as newspaper&sbquo radio and TV. In design&sbquo design that involves multimedia is called digital design or information design&sbquo and has become a new field.
